Courses That Does Not Require Mathematics in WAEC
Note that you need at least D7 or E8 in Mathematics for the courses I listed, it isn’t ‘a must’ you’ve a credit in Mathematics.

DELSU and UNN require credit pass in Government and any 2 other subjects plus at least a pass in Mathematics. Does not accept History in lieu of Government.
- Psychology
i) UNN requires credit passes in English Language, Biology or Health Science, and any other three subjects plus, at least a pass in Mathematics or Statistics.
ii) IBADAN accepts Science subjects with a pass in Mathematics
iii) UNIZIK requires similar requirements as for Economics, for both Direct Entry and UTME applicants but a pass in Mathematics is acceptable.
iv) UYO requires a credit pass in Biology or Health Science and at least a P7 in Mathematics.
- Religious studies
Mathematics isn’t required to study religious studies
- Sociology and Anthropology
i) UYO requires at least P7 in Mathematics
ii) IMSU require a p7 or E8 in Mathematics
iii) UNN requires five O’ level credit passes which must include English Language, one Science subject, and at least three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects.
- Sociology
i) ILORIN requires at least 2 Social Science subjects and a pass in Mathematics.
ii) IBADAN accepts 5 ‘O’ level credits passes from Arts, Science or Social /Science.
- Biochemistry: UNIMAID accepts SSCE passes in English Language and Mathematics.
- Botany: UDU and UNIMAID accept pass in Mathematics and English Language.
- Zoology: DELSU accepts Health/Science in lieu of Biology and does not require Mathematics.
- Optometry
- Computer science: UNIJOS accepts a credit pass in Further Maths in lieu of Mathematics
- Biology
- Geography
UNN requires five o’ level credit passes including English Language, Geography and any three from Arts or Social Science subjects and at least a pass (p7 or E8) in Mathematics.
IBADAN requires 5/6 ‘O’ level credit passes at one or two sittings to include English Language, Geography and any three Arts or S/Science subjects with at least a pass in Mathematics.
LASU accepts ‘O’ level pass in Mathematics
ILORIN requires at least a pass (P7 or E8) in Mathematics.
- Economics
i) MAIDUGURI accepts a pass in Mathematics, but such candidates will be required to pass a remedial course in Mathematics
- Geography and Regional Planning
i) AAUA and UYO accepts P.7 in Mathematics

i) UNIZIK and BSU require five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language and at least a p7 or E8 Mathematics
ii) IMSU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Lit-in-English and at least a pass in Mathematics
iii) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Economics/Commerce, Government/History, Literature in English/CRK/IRK and any Nigerian Language with at least a pass in Mathematics.
