OAU Denies Mass Failure In Pharmacy Faculty
It would be recalled that activities on social media reached a feverish height recently following speculations that the recent result released by the school management for the 2018/2019 academic session showed mass failure.
Various screenshots of the purported results trended on social media. For instance, uploaded screenshots of alleged results showed that for the 200 level, 60 students passed, 77 had a resit, 52 were to repeat the level, while 16 students were told to withdraw.
For those in 300 level, 38 allegedly passed, 60 had a resit, 37 were told to repeat the level, while 17 were advised to withdraw.
For those at 400 level, there were allegedly 22 passes, 73 resit, 30 advised to repeat and one told to withdraw.
Speaking with PUNCH HealthWiseon the issue, President, Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students, OAU chapter, Olushola Michael, said the story had been a source of concern since the news went viral.
“The results did not tell the story of how much effort and work the students had put in over the past academic year. We the students will need to take our own share of the blame, but all parties will need to take a share when such statistics are seen across board.”
However, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, OAU, Prof. Moses Akanmu, said the report was the “handiwork of mischief-makers.”
