Here is How To Build and Maintain a Good GPA in Higher Institution Being a student is not all that easy we have to strive for the best in other to have a good GPA.
What is GPA?
GPA(grade point average)is typically calculated by adding all the numbered grade you’ve received and dividing them by the number of credit you’ve taken. GPA is a system of judging a student’s performance.
Below are the tips that help you build a good GPA.
How to Build and Maintain a good GPA in Higher Institution
1. Know the grading system of your institution: Get a copy of your course or department prospectus. The book contain grade point and units attached to each course and this will help you prepare your mind.
2. Attend classes:
At least a student should attend 80percent classes for each course. Don’t always depend on your friends note as it might not be well detailed. Most lectures set questions on what they say in class and not the note they give. Always jot down things when in class in a note pad and go back to reading your note at the end of each lectures.
3. Ask questions:
As it’s being said ”A problem shared is half solved”. Asking questions goes a long way as this increase our knowledge and we are likely to remember the things we ask questions about. Ask your lectures , friends or senior to help you out with topics you don’t understand. Never keep things you don’t know to your self.
4. Keep good friends: Remember “evil communication corrupt good manners”. You might have a good start but the moment you start keeping bad friends, you begin to derail and loose focus on your goals. Make friends with those who will push to night prep not not those who will push you to parties.
5. Make the Library your best visiting place:
Theword LIBRARY is derived from the Latin word LIBER meaning BOOKS. According to UNESCO, the library is an organised collection of published books, reading and audio-visual materials and the services of the staffs who are able to “provide and interpret” such materials as required to meet the information, research and recreational needs of its users”. You can always get every information you need from the library so make therefore make the library your popular place of visit . Read different books not just one. Don’t get your knowledge from just one source of book but read different varieties of books to get enough and full detailed information and knowledge of your research.
6 . Set your priorities right; Priority is from the word prior which means come before something else. Your priority is the concern , interest or desire that comes before all others. Only you know and can understand your self. Identity your area of weakness and work on those areas. Never put any course above others. Don’t study some and leave the rest because those ones appear simple to you. You can’t know how simple they are until you get to the exam all so study all courses equally.
7. Take time out for your self: As is said “All works and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. Don’t always be a BOOKWORM. Take time out for leisure by visiting friends. Study your self to identify your talents and look for ways it can benefit you. It will also help your brain to relax and you relief your self of stress and this can also boost you MENTALLY.
Lastly, be optimistic: Never say I give up easily , always hope for the best. Think positively. Most people simply do not get what they want because they have no courage to believe that they can achieve it.
“In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity”(Albert Einstein).
Let the word “I can do it” be your best saying.
