This was made known by Prof. Dennis Ityavyar, The Commissioner for Education while speaking with journalists in Makurdi on Wednesday.
He also gave some important notice, he said third term for other categories of pupils and students except JSS 3 and SSS 3 had been cancelled and are not expected to pay school fees. Therefore the resumption was for first term of the 2020/2021 academic session.

He also stressed that all tertiary institutions in the state should be fumigated and COVID-19 protocols must be followed.

He said: Let me emphasise on the issue of school fees so there is no confusion because if the third term is cancelled, school fees for the term are also cancelled.

“But in the case of JSS 3 and SSS 3, parents are expected to pay their third term fees. However, those who have not done the third term, they don’t need to pay fees and this applies to private and public schools.”

Parents are to provide face masks and hand sanitizers. School authorities are to provide handwashing facilities and monitor compliance with social distancing in terms of sitting arrangement.
Furthermore, The Commissioner for Education said that schools that are highly populated should observe morning and afternoon sessions with strict monitoring, this is to prevent the risk of contracting the virus.

The first term would end on December 18, 2020
Second term of the 2020/2021 session would start on January 7, 2021 and end in March.
